How do I create an exception related to an asset in the web portal?

There are 3 primary ways to create an exception associated with an asset in the web portal:

1. Via the Results > Assets page

  • Navigate to Asset > Results > Assets
  • Find the asset for which you would like to create an exception. Instructions for searching for an asset can be found here
  • Click on the row containing the asset to pull out the side menu or click ‘Actions’ > ‘View’ next to the asset to go to the asset detail screen
  • Select the ‘Exceptions’ subtab and then the ‘Create Exception’ button
  • Fill in relevant exception details and click ‘Save’

2. Via the Results > Inspections page

  • Start an asset inspection. Instructions for starting an asset inspection can be found here
  • When answering any question, click the ‘Action’ > ‘Add Exception’ button to pull up the exception create screen
  • Fill in relevant exception details and click ‘Save’
Note: Questions must be answered before an exception can be added. If you do not see an ‘Add Exception’ button under ‘Action’, then it is possible that exceptions were disabled in your org. In this case, you will not be able to add an asset exception via an inspection

3. Via the Results > Exceptions page

  • Navigate to Asset > Results > Exceptions
  • Click ‘Create Exception’
  • Select ‘Edit’ next to Asset and select the desired asset. Instructions for searching for an asset can be found here
  • Fill in relevant exception details and click ‘Save’
