What is an asset category?

When creating an asset, you will be required to select a category for the asset. An asset category determines which additional custom fields are available for an asset. For example, a chemical asset may have fields for SDS, physical state, and expiration date while a fire extinguisher may have fields for the manufacturer, model number, and size. Fields within SBN are fully customizable and are set by your SBN administrator.
